The children love the Hop Kweng because, the seating is in little booths, so it seems like you're in your own private area. It is also quite dark. The food is traditional chinese and the set menu including crispy duck and pancakes after the hors d'oeuvres is the one we go for.
We've always enjoyed the food and prices seem on a par with elsewhere.
Very handy if you're in Folkestone for a concert at The Leas Cliff Hall. -

This looks like quite a nice Chinese restaurant however we didn't eat in but got take out. They don't do a discount for takeout so it felt quite over-priced. I don't know of a takeout chinese nearby though
The food was ok, but nothing special. A bit of a disappointment really. -

Not changed since my mum used to eat there in the 70's / 80's! Such a cute concept with individual booths for each table and a switch so you can control your own lighting!
Good standard of food, always piping hot and the staff and attentive without being too over-bearing. -

We like to use this restaurant for take away, we too have never eaten in there for some reason, I am not sure why. I love the food from here. I am vegetarian and i always have the same food from any chinese. I always have plain bolied rice, vegetable spring rolls and crispy seaweed. I was extremly happy (and a bit shocked) to be told that the powder that they put on the seaweed is actually fish. I am very thankful to the lady who took my order for this, she is the only person to have told me this! I thibk I enjoy the food from here much more now because i know that I am getting proper vegetarian food. My partner eats meat and he has always enjoyed the chicken balls and special fried rice from Hop Kweng. All in all I would say the food is consistantly good, always arrives hot and the portions are generous. The prices are not cheap but in my opinion you get what you pay for and if you want a really nice chinese take away I would recomend Hop Kweng above all others in the area.
